Durty Dabber Dual Sport and Adventure Ride Update 2023

Last Friday night the Durty Dabbers had the first meeting of the season.  Despite giving relatively short notice of the meeting I was very impressed with the number of members that showed up (almost 50) and the enthusiasm the group had to start working on the event. The major topic of discussion was our upcoming dual sport and adventure ride that is planned for the Weekend of June 3rd and 4th.  After a short discussion, it was unanimously agreed to go forward with the planning and have the event again this year.

The route on Saturday will change from the start to the snack stop due to the fact that we lost the trail that went through the city watershed.  We have been fighting with the tree huggers about that area for years and they finally won.  That was about 4 miles of great single track.  I am talking to a private land owner to hopefully replace that single track.  Sunday’s route is looking good, hopefully getting some small additions making it even better this year.

As for the Adventure bike course, that group of riders has been growing every year and we are fine tuning that course and I think it will be really great.  It’s much easier to layout because the harder single track is not required.

I have a meeting soon with DCNR to discuss this year’s event.  Sproul State Forest has a new head forester. I have met him and I think he’s going to be easier to work with.  I most likely will get a scolding from the other districts over non-legal registration on bikes.  I’m not going to have a tech inspection but it would sure make my life easier if everyone would have a legal bike.

I will give another update after my meeting w foresters.

Thanks,
