Durty Dabbers Great Adventure Dual Sport Update

Dual Sport, Durty Dabbers Comments Off on Durty Dabbers Great Adventure Dual Sport Update
Durty Dabbers Great Adventure Dual Sport Update
I apologize for not updating this site but we have been so busy getting ready for the event that we forgot!!
The response seems to be quite strong again this year, as at this time we have nearly 300 pre-entries.  This is great because it gives us the opportunity to better plan and accommodate the riders satisfactorily.
Saturday’s course is slightly different than last year we lost one alternate but picked up an even better alternate close to where the Black Gap trail was last year.  The GPSing  for the Adventure bikes is complete and we are working on the GPS for the main course at this time.; The alternates will be marked with arrows so you will not need to use GPS for this diversion. Sunday’s event has also been changed due to a large piece of ground that we have used in the past being purchased by a private individual therefore the transaction was so new that we were not able to get permission for using this land but we found a way around that.  The water crossing (which people have called asking about) is an alternate this year so people can make a choice whether to go through the water or not.
The use of the ATV Area has been slightly expanded and we feel we have a better marking system to make it easier to navigate. There is also considerable natural gas drilling activity on the latter portion of Sunday’s course but the DCNR felt we were a high enough priority group that they are going to have the gas drilling companies cease operation during our event so there will not be a conflict with traffic.  Both the Castanea and Chapman Township Fire Companies are excited about the event and are planning great meals for all of you. to enjoy.
The GPSing is being done with Garmin equipment and their data base and  at sign up we will have a cable for Garmin Equipment to download the route.  If you use another type of GPS that is compatible please bring your own cable.
Don’t forget to stop in Friday night if you are in town at the rider reception which will be at the same location as previous years however a Durty Dabber member has purchased the Honda dealership which is now called G- Brick Motorsport. Sign up will be available at G-Brick  from 6-8 pm as well as at the camp grounds around 9 pm.
Also the Castanea Fire Company guys will have food available Friday night at the campground.
Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend.

2010 Durty Dabbers Dual Sport and Adventure Ride Update

2010 Durty Dabbers

Dual Sport and Adventure Ride Update

For 2010 the Durty Dabbers are once again sanctioned for a 2 day national dual sport, our 20th year!  To celebrate our 20th year we are planning to change things up a bit and will plan for something special to celebrate.

We are once again sanctioned in the BMW Adventure Bike Series, our 3rd year for this type event.  It appears that the interest and participation has been increasing each year since its inception.

The basic layout should remain quite similar with Saturdays ride taking the riders south  through Bald Eagle State Forest and Sundays ride going to the north and west through Sproul State Forest.  Sundays course will change considerably due to some land closures and also new land that has been made available to us.

As always we are open to  any special suggestions/recommendations that you would like to share and we will gladly consider them prior to the final marking of the course.

One of the suggestions already being considered for Sunday would be an alternate course around the water crossing for the larger bikes or less adventurous riders.

I will provide a monthly update and more frequent updates as the event gets closer.

Thanks again everyone for helping to make our event the success year after year that it is.

Nils Mantzoros

President Durty Dabbers

** NOTE:  Williamson Honda/Suzuki had been sold to Bill Garbrick (a long time Durty Dabber member).

The new name for the shop is G Brick Motorsports.  The phone number remains the same at 570-726-3343.  If you call, ask for Clyde in Parts, he is the best person to answer your questions or go to our website at www.durtydabbers.com and the secretary of the club will assist you.
